UK is home to some of the talented fund managers managing unit trusts and OEIC investments. If you are one of those people who are too busy to do your own investment research or have no idea where to start, then potentially a unit trust or an OEIC maybe a better suited investment for you. Through a unit trust or OEIC, you are delegating your investment decisions to the fund manager.

However, the performance of the unit trust or OEIC investment is dependent on the performance of the fund manager and his team of analysts. So if anything, more time should be spent on researching about the fund manager rather than the fund itself.

Fund managers are generally specialists in a certain area of the market. This could be UK growth, American small companies or Far East Asia or one of the many other investment categories. One of the most respected managers in the investment world is Harry Nimmo.

It should be noted that investing carries a high degree of risk and appropriate professional financial advice should be sought before investing. Your investments can go down and up in value. It is also possible that you may get less than your original investment. Also, past performance of an investment is not guidance for its future performance.
